Every route on this site can run as a private wine tour for 2 to 12 people, on your dates. A private group can take any scheduled departure to Armenia, Georgia, Italy, France, Czechia or Austria as it stands, shorten it, stretch it, or ask me for something new. I am based in Brno, so South Moravia and the Wachau are day trips, and everything else is a flight I take several times a year.
Who books privately#
The typical private group is four to eight friends who want the cellars without a fixed calendar. Then come the occasions: a fortieth birthday in Kakheti, an anniversary with one very long lunch in the Langhe.
Wine clubs arrive with a theme already chosen; I supply the winemakers and the tables. Companies book incentive trips and team weekends where the wine is the frame and the conversation is the point.
Importers, sommeliers and restaurant teams want producer meetings, not sightseeing: tasting from tank and barrel, time with the winemaker in a language both sides speak. I set those up as working visits and keep the group small.
Start from a route or from a blank page#
The simplest brief is an existing tour on your dates. Armenia: Areni, karas and the canyons of Vayots Dzor is seven days; Georgia: Kakheti and the qvevri cellars runs a week as well; Piedmont and the Langhe is best in truffle season. In Brno itself, Moravian cellars in a day needs only a date and an idea of what you like to drink.
The other brief is a blank page. Requests I enjoy: a long weekend that starts in Vienna, climbs the terraces of the Wachau and ends under the Pálava hills, an hour from my door. Or the Jura and Beaujolais with more days in Arbois than the scheduled tour allows.
How planning works#
- You write to me. Who is coming, roughly when, for how long, and where you are leaning. Email, WhatsApp or Telegram, in any of my five languages. I reply myself, usually within a day.
- I send a draft. A day-by-day programme with the cellars named, drive times, where we sleep, what we eat, and an indicative price per person.
- I confirm. You say yes, I book the estates, hotels, tables and driver, and send the final programme with the price fixed. A deposit holds the dates; the balance is due a few weeks before we leave.
- We travel. I am with you from the first cellar to the last table: translating, pouring, ordering, and stretching the afternoon when the winemaker opens something unplanned.
How the price is built#
There is no fixed tariff, but the logic is simple. The price is per person and moves with five things: how many of you there are, since the minibus, the driver and my time cost the same whether two or ten share them; how many days; the level of hotel, from family guesthouse to five-star; the country, because a day in Barolo in November costs more than a day in Kakheti or Moravia; and the season, since hotels in harvest and truffle weeks charge what they can.
A group of eight on a scheduled route pays roughly what the published departure costs; a couple pays more per head, twelve pay less. Always included: my time, every tasting and cellar visit, the wines at meals, transport on the ground. Never included: flights and insurance. Weather, luggage and mobility are covered in the FAQ.
What I need to quote#
For a first price, tell me:
- how many people, and any mobility or dietary limits
- your dates, or the month and how flexible you are
- how many days you have
- the country, or simply the wines you drink at home
- natural, classic or both
- the hotel level you are comfortable with
- the occasion, if there is one; a birthday changes the last dinner
- for trade groups, your portfolio and what you are looking for
Three lines or thirty. I will do the rest.
Tell me what you have in mind
